Outside cold – Inside warmth

“King Winter” is ruling over Belgium at this moment! This weekend he treated us again with lots of snow! I know, I know,.. a lot of traffic misery… but on the other hand, gorgeous picturesque scenery!

We were fortunate to be at home this weekend and enjoyed winter time mostly from inside the house.

We tried to hang some Christmas decoration around the house, but we didn’t atteint that far.

Yesterday afternoon we went Christmas “snow” shopping. In Belgium, this time of the year, shops are open on Sundays.

I want to share with you some pictures I took this weekend from inside our home.

View to our outbuilding.

Again the outbuilding and surrounded garden.

Do you see the whirling snowflakes?

Here on below you can see the Christmas wreaths we hung at the balcony fence and at the entrance gate.

The wreaths are covered with snow! You can hardly see them.

Last week I decorated inside the house.

Here you can see the Christmas decoration in our orangerie.

This year our Christmas tree is standing in the living room.

To warm you up (especially to my readers who live in countries where it is very cold and where it is snowing), I treat you with some pictures of interiors with a warm color palette.

Last Minute Christmas Decoration

Haven't you had the time to decorate yet and are you a skilful person? Well then, don't worry! Here are a few tips to make some last minute Christmas decoration.

Aren't they beautiful these wooden dears and hearts?

To create this, all you need is a plank and a saw, paint and ribbon. You design your favorite figure on the wooden plank and you start to saw!

Different colours of paint...


...and you can start to paint the figure into your favorite colour!


To finish you put some Christmas ribbon around the figure.






A twiggy homemade star.
Secure the framework of sticks with twine and create a candleholder from a spiral of twisted wire.

Old pressed-glass jars make ideal night lights.

Decorate with a tiny traditional garland of evergreen foliage.

Decorate your candlesticks with a twist of greenery or a circlet of berries.

Pine cones, shiny hips, haws, bright berries and crab apples make strikingly simple decorations.
Hang them from rustic twine, string or ribbon across a window or in a doorway where they will spin and catch the light.

This week our sweet Lauren of the Pure Style Home blog gave us a good Christmas decoration idea!

On the mantelpiece in her home, she placed an amount of pillar candles and hung a magnolia wreath above this!

Wonderful isn't it?

My Christmas tree and decoration

Yesterday afternoon, while my son Anthony was studying for his Christmas examinations, Jan and I decorated our Christmas tree. With some Christmas carols as background music , it was a very nice afternoon!

So we placed our tree in the dining room because this room is situated between the kitchen and the sitting area. We can enjoy the Christmas tree sitting in the kitchen and even sitting in the living room as well.

Here (picture above) I am standing in the kitchen looking at the dining room. The double door you see, is the door towards the sitting area. (For some reason the picture is not of a good quality, sorry for that!)

This (picture above) is the view from the sitting area towards the dining room. The double door you see here is the one to the kitchen.

The tree is waiting for the Christmas gifts I have to buy the coming days!

I love my Christmas decoration ornaments. Some of them I have been decorating with for years now.

I love this Santa face!!

Another Santa I have since many years.

A collection of little bears.

My mum made these hand-sewed little pillows with the first letter of our name on it.

The "R" from Ralph ( our dog).

These Santas are my favorites!!

I putted them on the mantel piece of our orangery.

This white beard is hanging on a door handle.
