Under mitt NK besök i tisdags såg jag Himlas kollektion av vackra kuddar, ulliga plädar, handdukar m m. Äntligen i färger som sticker ut och tar för sig. Härligt.

Shopping i Stockholm

Jag var på en snabbvisit i Stockholm igår och hann pressa in några inredningsbutiker. Nu kommer min lilla runda här, som först och främst är för dig som kanske inte varit i Stockholm eller som är där sällan. (Finns det någon som har fler tips på bra shoppingställen så får ni gärna maila mig så kanske jag kan utöka listan allteftersom). Bilderna kommer från resp hemsidor.

Posh Living, Sveavägen 41-43. Hittade ett jättebra sortiment av ryamattor som man kan måttbeställa men också en hel del detaljer som snygga kuddar, vaser m m.

Studio77, Drottninggatan 77. Säljer exklusiva designmöbler från bl a Arper, MDF Italia, Rolf Benz, Foscarini m m.

BoConcept, Drottninggatan 75. Eget sortiment av möbler och inredningsprylar till hyfsat bra pris.

Årstiden, Drottninggatan 88. En blandning mellan blomsteraffär, presenthandel och inredningsbutik. Handplockat sortiment i den dansk franska stilen.

NK Inredning, gör mig sällan besviken. Nu fanns det en hörna med den lite asiatiska stil som jag tidigare bloggat om här. Det fanns kinesiska skåp, fågelburar, bambustegar, läcker keramik m m. Jag blev förtjust i några stora afrikanska Zulu-vaser. En hel del trädetaljer var också rikigt läckert. Stort sortiment av Himla.

Mathilde, vägg i vägg med NK finns denna butik med en mix av kläder och lite inredningsdetaljer. Säljer bl a Day Home.

Plan Ett, Birger Jarlsgatan 32, stort sortiment av marknadens aktuella utbud av designmöbler.

Norrgavel, Birger Jarlsgatan 27, har sitt eget lite jordnära naturliga och vackra sortiment.

Nordiska Galleriet, Nybrogatan 11. En jättebra butik om du vill få tag i toppskiktet av aktuella internationella designers och leverantörer.

Designtorget, Nybrogatan 16. Diverse prylar och pryttlar, ofta färgglad design med mer än en funktion. Ett ständigt skiftande sortiment.

Afro Art, Nybrogatan 29. En något mindre butik än den på Hornsgatan. Härligt sortiment med textilier i mustiga färger och mönster, vackra korgar, smycken och konstnärliga produkter av återvunnet material.

Asplund, Sibyllegatan 31. Modernt sortiment av möbler, mattor och accessoarer från flera av de främsta svenska formgivarna såsom Thomas Sandell, Claesson-Koivisto-Rune, Jonas Lindvall, Anki Gneib m fl.

Bruka, Humlegårdsgatan 1. Möbler och dekorationsdetaljer med mycket fint för köket och ett stort sortiment av korgar och korgmöbler. I lite lantlig stil fräsch svensk stil.

Butiker jag inte hann med den här gången, men som står högst upp på listan till nästa gång:

Minh Inredning, Kåkbrinken 11 i Gamla stan. Personligt utvalt sortiment med produkter från Vietnam. Minh är ju annonsör här på bloggen så jag skäms extra mycket att jag inte hann dit, men nästa gång så...

Room, Alströmergatan 20. Har inte varit i den här butiken på länge, eftersom Room också finns i Köpenhamn (dock inte så läge till eftersom Köpenhamnsbutiken nu tyvärr stänger). Trevligt sortiment av moderna möbler och dekorationsdetaljer. Har bl a ett utvalt sortiment av engelska Habitat.

Indori, Smedjegatan 10, Nacka. Butik med ett eget sortiment som de själv beskriver som 'modern elegance meets Asian Zen'. Jag har tidigare visat bilder från ägarnas hem se här, du kan också se bilderna på Indoris hemsida.

London W8, Odengatan 26. Har varit tidigare i den här häftiga butiken som innehas av Simon Davies och Tomas Cederlund. Ingen har väl missat deras inredningsprogram på tv. Butiken är allt annat än slätstruken svensk. Det är unika detaljer, snirkliga bord och vräkiga soffor, massor av kuddar och guldspeglar... ja ni vet säkert vad jag menar.

Walles & Walles, Birger Jarlsgatan 81. Framförallt kända för sina tyger i randigt och rutigt. Kallas själva sin stil för tidlös klassisk.

Svenskt Tenn, Strandvägen 5. Unikt och världsberömt sortiment tyger, möbler och belysning av Josef Frank och Estrid Ericson.

Dahl Agenturer, Strandvägen 7 B. Showroom med agenturens produkter såsom mattor, möbler och belysning. Gillar deras härligt stora färgglada puffar Laika från spanska Treku.

DIS Inredning, Humlegårdsgatan 19. Handplockad internationell modern inredning i en alldeles egen genre. Har bl a inrett hotell Puro, som jag skrivit om tidigare.

Koffert, Humlegårdsgatan 11. Känner inte till den här butiken alls egentligen, men jag tror att sortimentet drar lite åt det lantliga shabby chic hållet.

Spiti, Sveavägen 64. Sortiment med inriktning på den marockanska stilen men mycket kuddar, lyktor, tebord m m.

Upper East, Sveavägen 52. Modern klassisk stil.

Turquoise, Malmskillnadsgatan 42. Livsstilsbutik med färglada produkter från Indien. Här hittar du kläder, smycken, möbler såsom vikskärmar, spelgar men även kuddar, överkast m m.

Bohem, Linnegatan 28-30. Är namnet till trots, inte så där jättebohemiskt utan här kan du hitta exklusiva märken som Missoni Home, Kenzo Home, Mulberry Home, Vesace Home, Ralph Lauren Home m fl.

Oscar & Clothilde, Nybrogatan 7. Fransk-engelsk inredning i vacker sekelskiftesstil med originella och utsvävande möbler och detaljer.

Modernity, Sibyllegatan 6. Köper och säljer skandinavisk 1900-tals design. Allt från möbler och belysning till glas och keramik.

Solgården Antik & Måleri, Karlavägen 58. Gustavianska möbler och antikt med förkärlek för vitt.

Bohemiskt turkos

Dream Product of the Day...

I know this selection is a bit (a lot!) formal, but it's so fantastic, that I had to post it. I came across it when I was going through my Judith Miller Furniture book (one of my favorite reference books for history of furniture).

Tula Center Table. Made of sparkling cut steel. Produced by Tula's Imperial Armory. Epitomizes 18th century Russian Decorative Arts. Artists cut steel into diamond facets that sparkled like jewels, colored and chased the surface, and used non-ferrous metal inlays. This table is regarded as the finest example of Tula furniture.

After viewing this exquisite piece of furniture, I thought I would take a look at some dining rooms that I love...

Dining Rooms To Love...

This is Katie Lee Joel's dining room. I love, love, love the dark wood floors and cool tone on the walls juxtaposed against the white classic furniture. This room just feels fresh and relaxed, even with the formal furnishings and elements.

Small space? No problem! The leather and chrome "bamboo" chairs mix perfectly with the lantern that has the same lines. The wall treatment gives the room the joie de vivre that says "come on in, relax and have a cup of coffee!".

French Country is such a warm design palette. The brick-laden floor and furniture style cabinetry in this kitchen are wonderful. Look at that fun chandelier over the dining table!

Designer Thomas Pheasant. He is one of my favorite designers. His designs are so harmonious and peaceful (which ties into my whole design aesthetic - hence the blog name!). The light fixture is quickly becoming one of my favorite styles. I would really love to have this or something similar over my dining room table. The simple drapes and neutral colors give this space a restful feeling.

The dining room chair is reminescent of Arne Jacobsen's design. These chairs are Thomas' Greek lounge chairs for Baker Furniture. Barbara Barry uses this shape in her designs as well (she has a furniture line for Baker too).

Another fabulous dining room by Thomas Pheasant. Here he uses his Louis dining arm chairs from his Baker furniture line. The chinese inspired lantern in burnt red is the perfect compliment to the fabric Thomas chose for the dining chairs. Note that everything else in the room is neutral-toned, which balances out the room (design restraint!).

Another room by Thomas. This actually looks more like a living room which has a table and four chairs that can be used for dining or poker or conversation if the need arises. I love the chairs, the chest on the back wall and the pattern in the rug.

Here Jed Johnson Associates, Inc. uses a very serene palette of colors and furnishings. The pale blue on the walls sets the stage for the dark tabletop atop a greyish-cream toned base and chairs. The chandelier gives the room elegance and the mirrors pull it all together.

This dining room is by designer Sills Huniford Associates. This is a small room, but instead of drawing attention to the size, the designers put this fabulous table and cut-out chairs in it and placed an organized palette of prints on the wall. Huniford has a design book out called Dwellings: Living With Great Style. Check it out!

I love the wallpaper in this dining room by designer Thad Hayes, Inc. Thad has a new design book coming out in 2009 called Thad Hayes: The Tailored Interior. I can't wait to get it.

Designer Mariette Himes Gomez hit paydirt on this dining area. The brilliance of putting a curved, skirted sofa up next to a round table and adding two armchairs in a beautiful fabric is beyond perfect for me. I would definitely have this in my home. Architectural Digest.

Indoor/outdoor dining spaces are all the rage and this one is even made better by the assemblage of chairs and fabulous bench. Designer Randolph Duke - Architectural Digest.

This scanned picture isn't very clear, but I had to include it in my favorite dining rooms to love. I guess the tall french doors leading into this space and those cane-back chairs along with that settee on the back wall just make my heart flutter a bit.

I don't know if it is the lighting in this photo or the elements of the room (I think it is a little of both), but this looks like it could be a dining room for a movie star of the 40's or 50's, such as Grace Kelly or Ingrid Bergman. Designer Stephanie Henley - Architectural Digest.

Rödorange toner

Något som kan bli riktigt snyggt, om man vågar, är att blanda flera olika färger inom samma färggrupp, t ex allt från rött till orange och rosa och kanske t o m vinrött. Soffan och sängen 'Patchwork' från Ligne Roset är lite spännande för det går att blanda upp till 27 olika färger i en och samma möbel. Ett rödorange stilleben med Kirsten Friberts härliga kuddar. Kartells lilla runda plastbord 'Panier' finns i en rödaktig färg och Offeccts Spoon Low designad av Monica Förster. Är man inte så modig kan man ju alltid köra med färgglada blommor i vas.

Add some red and orange colours. Patchwork from Ligne Roset is a fun idea because you can mix different colours in to one furniture. The cushions comes from Kirsten Fribert. Kartells little table 'Panier' works everywere. The chair 'Spoon Low' from Monica Förster, Offecct, you can get in all kinds of colours. Or, if colour isn't your game, you can just ad some flowers to your home.

A friend of mine owns the cutest store in Morgan Hill, CA called Magpie. She is one of the most creative people I know. Her store is so well put together, so creative, so imaginative. I've seen Michelle do such creative and unique things with her store, it's decor and its products, that it blows me away. She truly is a unique talent.

Michelle is getting ready for Halloween! Don't you love this display? I want the dark ceramics, the lighted pumpkin and the letters spelling SPOOKY!

Magpie has fabulous diaries and photo albums that would look wonderful displayed on a bookshelf or entrance table. Anywhere you can admire them!








The tulle skirt on this mannequin is just a glimpse into Michelle's creative genius. I love how she displays the jewelry on the undressed mannequin and belts the skirt! So cute!

A few words with Michelle....

Favorite designer/color/furniture piece? I don't really have a favorite designer. My favorite color at the moment is anything with a gray undertone. My favorite furniture piece is a 8 foot trumeau mirror that I have leaning against my bedroom wall.

What is your design philosophy? My philosophy is to use what you love, do something unexpected, work with layers and once you learn the rules....break them!

What is your favorite color and how do you like to use it in your home? I have painted my family room a fabulous gray/blue and its very relaxing. I have also done my bedroom in a blue but with a little more green to it and used a soft creamy yellow (which I rarely use yellow, but it is so soft it works). It is my husband's and my favorite room in the house.

Beyond what people will see in the pictures that I’m posting, what can people expect when they come into Magpie? At Magpie people can expect unique merchandise, fun displays, a treat to all senses and above all else, over the top customer service. We also offer design and/or staging consulting, custom ribbon orders for events, custom favors for events and we also can do a "candy bar".
